THE FUTURE STARTS TODAY

San Diego City College Graphic Design is excited to announce a new identity and site/blog as we begin our Fall 2015 semester. sdcc.gd

Our original artful identity visible on our old blog has served us well for many years and was created by an exceptional City College graphic design alumni Joel Sotelo. This Fall semester we usher in a new era at SDCC with sparkling new facilities and classrooms and a gifted new full time faculty member Sean Bacon. We turned to another talented SDCC alumni Abe Vizcarra to craft the future. We believe our new identity communicates the essential character of our program in a vibrant, fresh, enthusiastic tone. The strong elemental forms and bold visual language with a straightforward approach speaks to our program's early emphasis on design process, form, color, type and conceptual thinking.Dynamic and diverse, urban and forward thinking, friendly and inviting. Connected to our colorful past but relevant to the present and timeless enough to work well in the future. We are here to ignite inspiration and student success, helping designers find their voice, shape their story and make a difference.

GRATEFUL to Abe for his many long hours and dedication to help us create and refine our vision and viewpoint. The field of graphic design is both creative and contextually aware and the simple cohesiveness of this system juxtaposes well with City's urban setting. To complement the new identity our new full time faculty member Assistant Professor Sean Bacon created a new site/blog. His dedication and drive out of the starting gate is everywhere you look. When students arrive to the Art/Humanities building they will see new signage and visual changes to our lab and classrooms that showcase our new identity.Save the date: Friday September 18th for a big SDCC Graphic Design celebration. The future is bright. Thanks to all our students and alumni who follow our blog. Starting today remember to visit sdcc.gd to stay connected. See you there!Candice Lopez//AIGA Fellow
